Grateful

1. For muscle-y family who come and help us drag our furniture out of the basement and haul it to the dump.

2. For doctors who deal in a matter-of-fact way with my daughter when she is convinced she is dying of a stomachache.

3. Cute little primary children who lean out of their car windows to yell 'hi teacher!' as we leave church.

4. Giggling children who love to cuddle.

5. Crinkly eyes while smiling

6. For a beastly white van that can haul our stuff around.

7. Beautiful clouds which bring beautiful storms our way.

The girl

I find it funny that the dress has so much more history than Em does.

Not weird at all

For the sixth grade musical Deanna was a dancing skeleton. Black lights on the stage were supposed to make the 'bones' glow in the dark.
Noah was seriously freaked out by the dancing, glowing skeletons. I'm not sure what the grandparents thought of it all, but Deanna was absolutely thrilled that they came to see her perform.

Temporary insanity

We're trying to sell the house, which means it needs to be kept really, really clean so instead of actually cleaning we did this:

soothing the savage

From an article on CNN about the benefits of music on cardiovascular health:

"Miller has not only seen these same results in some of his patients who use music therapy, but he said he also believes music can be so relaxing that it can actually keep the body young. "We would like to believe that it may slow down the aging process," he said."

Motherhood in focus

Something about going to church and hearing the eulogy-like talks glorifying mothers really sets my teeth on edge. Don't get me wrong, I love my mom to death and I think she did a fabulous job of raising us so I have no problem with people describing MY mom in glowing terms. My problem is that I'm a mom, and I'm certainly not anywhere close to the idealized mom we hear about once a year. So often it seems that motherhood in my world is just incredibly messy, frustrating and really, really HARD and I absolutely love it.

Motherhood. . .

means getting to occasionally blow stuff up

means making weird food to gross your kids out

means believing in fairies

Being a mom is the coolest job I have ever had!

Kids these days

We took a trip this week to the air force museum. I thought the little boys would enjoy seeing all the planes (that's a boy thing, right?) But, no, all they wanted to do was to follow the guide ropes.

I'm glad they had a good time!
