there’s nothing wrong with kids that trying to reason with them won’t make worse

One year down
I guess that now he's officially not a baby I'm going to have to cut off the girly curls in the back. Uncle Ben makes a point of mocking his mullet whenever he sees him and I've had several people ask me how old 'she' is. As of today? Not a baby anymore, but a one year old little toddler. *sigh*

Gung Hay Fat Choi
Chinese New Year's celebrations ended yesterday, which means the
Utah Slades got together today to celebrate. We made To's spring rolls, ate broccoli beef and enjoyed each other's company. Honestly, any event is pretty much an excuse for us to get together and eat, so in that regard it was an overwhelming success. The kids made masks with Holly to represent their Chinese astrological animal, and we all got presents. Yay! Presents!
Also, there was this:
You know, since beating up on each other is a traditional Chinese New Year's thing. The most hilarious part was Linnea doing the 'hug' and completely failing to do a thing to Adam. Apparently the boys in her class are skinnier and more cooperative than her brother.
There might have been a little mocking thrown in with the beatings.
To work off the consumption of oh, so very many spring rolls, my brothers and sister went outside and shoveled snow. The mailbox, which I have only been able to use once since all the storms started, is now cleared of snow enough that the mail delivery person can once again place mail into it instead of my bucket. I think all the boys were impressed with my neighbor who just bought another mailbox, mounted it on a 2x4 and stuck it into the snowbank. Totally efficient. And totally a Red Green worthy idea. To finish off the day we ate birthday pie and sang to No, the oldest of the fire pigs. He wasn't so sure about the candles, but did an admirable job of finishing off his cake.
It's been a good day.

Isn’t it about time for you to start weaning No?
Well, technically, he’s old enough.
So, why haven’t you started?
He really doesn’t seem ready yet.
Didn’t you say if he ever bit you he would have no choice about being weaned?
Yeah
Hasn’t he bit you more than a few times?
Yes
Haven’t you had mastitis quite a few times?
Actually, this makes it round #7 of mastitis. See, the boy just doesn’t believe in baby food or bottles, so how can I wean him?
“You know, my kids never slept through the night until I’d weaned them”
. . .
“Well, whaddya know, it’s time to wean the baby!”

Fascinated
So, No loves the computer, phone, scanner, cords, or anything electronic. This morning he has pushed the button on the CO monitor twice and scared the %^&* out of himself as the alarm beeped. He thinks he belongs in my lap as I'm typing on the computer or doing anything on the computer. The picture was taken while I was trying to have a video chat. Noah is staring at the image of himself on the computer, absolutely fascinated. Of course, looking isn't enough and a few seconds later he was trying to grab the mouse.
