besides the food and the mountain probably my favorite thing about ABQ is the balloon fiesta. On the first weekend of October our skies fill up with colorful floating air transports. My favorite is the dawn patrol, where the balloons inflate in darkness and then you see the burners light up the balloon against the dark sky. The sight when the whole patrol takes off is enough to get even this night owl up at an amazingly early time to watch the glowing balloons.
